Corrections
We get things wrong. What matters is what happens next, and a silent edit is not a correction - it is a cover-up with better formatting.
How we handle it
- Errors of fact are corrected in the story, and a dated note at the foot records what was wrong and what it now says.
- Material errors - ones that change what a reader would conclude - additionally carry a note at the top of the story.
- Typos and broken links are fixed without a note. We are not going to clutter the record with punctuation.
- Retractions. If a story should not have run, it stays up, clearly marked as retracted, with an explanation. Deleting it would remove the evidence that we published it.
Asking for one
Write to corrections@payrolltimes.com with the story, the specific claim, and what the correct position is. Sourced requests get handled fastest, and that applies to vendors as much as to readers - if we have misreported your status page or your timeline, send us the record and we will fix it.
Disagreeing with a story's framing is not the same as identifying an error of fact. We will read those too, and we will say so publicly when a reasonable challenge changes our view.
